Maryse Selit is an American attorney with extensive experience in a wide range of media and corporate transactions. Maryse has advised media execs, artists, entertainers, politicians, athletes, and other clients on commercial speech, rights of privacy, publicity, libel, slander, corporate governance, compliance, employment contracts, severance agreements, breach of contract, wrongful termination, discrimination and a host of other business issues.




Additionally, Maryse has substantial experience handling in-court and out-of-court restructurings, distressed asset purchases, insurance and reinsurance transactions, insurer insolvencies, group annuities, real estate, intellectual property, and commercial litigation.




Prior to practicing law in New York at Proskauer Rose, Hogan and Hartson and Reed Smith, Maryse was a pupil with the Chambers of Anthony Scrivener, QC at Gray's Inns London, as well as the Chambers of Maureen Mullally at Middle Temple London. Overall, Maryse has gained very diverse international experience from working on cross-border transactions in the UK, Europe, Asia and the US.

E D U C A T I O N

Maryse has a very distinguished academic background. After obtaining her JD from the University of London (graduating 5th in her class), she won the prestigious Draper's Company Scholarship (only one winner per year) to do an LL.M in constitutional law and litigation at William & Mary Law School. Maryse then obtained an LL.M in international law and litigation from NYU Law School.

Maryse is also the recipient of a highly coveted research scholarship to Cambridge (only 2 winners per year) where she studied comparative constitutional law. She also received a diploma in comparative law from the Sorbonne in Paris.
